How to Make Your Home Feel Extra-Cozy for Fall

How to Make Your Home Feel Extra-Cozy for Fall

As the weather changes and leaves start to fall, it’s always a telltale sign that a new season is here. And with a new season comes new habits. We tend to cook a little differently, dress a little differently, and for most people, we decorate our homes a little differently too. Instead of bright, airy colors and fabrics that we embraced during the summer months, we lean into richer, cozier pieces for fall. As the weather gets colder and colder outside, our home gets warmer and warmer on the inside.

So, what are some tips and tricks for making your home feel extra-cozy this fall? We’ve got a few pointers on how to channel the perfect fall vibes in your home this season with a little help from Fab Habitat. Take a look!

1. Layer, layer, layer

An easy way to add comfort, style, and ultimate coziness to your home is to layer. Add a thicker quilt and blankets to your beds, toss a few throw blankets onto your couches, and stack lots and lots of pillows throughout all of your rooms. Adding these elements will instantly transform your space from summer to fall! Pro tip: mix and match warm colors and patterns for an elevated seasonal look.

3. Decorate with natural texture

If you have any empty spaces or spots on your floor, it’s a good idea to add rugs to those spaces during the cooler months. Adding a naturally textured rug (typically one made out of jute, wool, or cotton) will warm up the space both literally and figuratively, making it a great addition for cozying up this fall.

4. Add some seasonal art

You don’t have to go around and change every art piece in your home, but making a few swaps is a simple way to make any space feel cozier. For example, swapping out a painting of the beach for an image of a forest is a great way to help your walls transition with the seasons. Adding textured frames in gold or bronze hues is also an awesome idea for fall.

5. Create a reading nook

If you have some extra space in your bedroom, living room, or even an office, make use out of it by creating a cozy reading nook as you head into fall and winter. Just find a comfy chair, add a side table, and layer on some throw blankets for the perfect little spot. It’s a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a cup of tea as you read a book and escape the lingering cold outdoors!
